Sorry, even 1 beer will delay your reactions and hinder your responsibility. No if's and's or but's about it guys&gals. Been proven many times over. You take enough chances riding sober, injecting drinking into the mix on your part, only increases your risks. Try and rationalize it any way you guys want to make yourself feel better, but drinking and riding is dumb.

Personally, I won't drink more than two beers and get on my bike. That said, I've got a bud who thinks nothing of drinking 7-8 beers and jumping on his scoot, and he's got a lot less miles (experience) than me.

As an MSF instructor, we had the opportunity to drink at a party, and have the Highway Patrol administer alcohol tests. It was pretty revealing. As a 165 lb person, it only took me about three drinks in one hour to really start screwing up, even though I was still a long ways from .08.

In short, the human liver is capable of only processing one ounce of alcohol per hour, regardless of body size. A larger person can drink more before being impaired, but once impaired, it will take the same hour per drink to sober up. One 12 oz beer, one 8 0z glass of wine, or one drink, properly mixed, all have about one ounce of alcohol.

We were given a tape from the Mn Highway Partrol, shot from the dashboard of police cruisers. There is NOTHING MORE EASILY DETECTABLE ON THE HIGHWAY THAN AN IMPAIRED BIKER, as the sense of balance is one of the first things to go. Watching bikers coming to a stop, and trying to take off from a stop, when impaired, is absolutely hilariious. That is, until you realize that they may be on their last ride.

Here's some of Mn MSF's award winning ads concerning safe biking:

No way! Never! That is unles you want to be dead right. If you're drinking, you're riding bitch. Ever hear of a designated driver? I won't ride with my best friend even if he's had (only) 1 beer.

Its all about personal responsibility. There are times I do and times I dont. I have seen many bike night, mc parties and I cant believe some of them are even walking let alone riding. For me when I ride I seem to want to drink less just to be on the safe side. But last poker run that I went on had 5 stops had a beer at 1st and 3rd stop and said that was enough. I wanted more but knew it was a bad idea.

Default Drinking and not Thinking

I learned my lesson over 20 years ago.Got tuned up at a local watering hole, then stitched up at the local hospital. The doctor said 4 more millimeters to the left, you would be at the morgue. It was raining and I rounded a turn about 35mph, the rear wheel slid out, hit the curb, then the guardrail with my neck.
Remember it like it was yesterday.
When I went to the 105th anniversary in Wisconsin, I couldn't believe the number of locals staggering back to the parking lot, jumping on bikes, no helmets and jackets.I guess that cold air will sober you up.

Wife and I ride with many different people. We have one simple and unbreakable rule. You drink and ride, Even one beer, and you NEVER ride with us again. No exceptions, no excuses.

If I want to drink, I sit my **** at home. If I want to ride, it takes all of my senses on high alert to perform properly.

tea-totalers are the same people that say "don't let that boy have a B B gun "He'll shoot his EYE out!"
I still say one or two beers will keep you out of trouble.
I think the original post was concerned about small amounts of beer/alcohol consumption. They were not talking about getting blasted and falling down
plastered.
There are legal limits.......use'em or loose them!
