For any that are wanting that *slightly* deeper and louder exhaust note, you may like the SE Performance 4" Touring mufflers. Including end caps and a 15% discount they run about $400 which is reasonable IMO. The 09's sound pretty nice just stock, but I was looking for "just a little" more of an exhaust note.
I had been reading and hearing two different opinions on these SE mufflers. One is "save your money, they have to meet noise regulations and sound just like the stockers. The basic difference is just the end caps". The other is "they do flow a little better and sound better". After I installed them and went to start the bike, I was wondering if I'd be able to hear a difference from the stock mufflers and if I'd wasted my $400? I'll say this; they definately have a little deeper and louder tone at idle, and even more so on the throttle but I don't think anyone would complain they are too loud, (some may think they are too quiet). I happen to like that they are 50 state complient and say so on the back of each muffler.
One thing I noticed on the stock 09's is more exhaust flows out the left muffler. With these SE's the exhaust now feels equal. Their is no popping and the bike feels a little peppier but that is probably just in my head. If I do a stage 1 air intake I'll do something with the fuel management but for now I'm quite satisfied.
That is Good to Hear, I will be adding a set to My Bike and was wondering how they sound,
I picked up a New set from the Big Bore Kit for a SE Model. Is there any way you can post a Video clip of the Bike Running/Idling with the Pipes?
I've never done a video clip before, this will give me reason to learn how but I'm not sure how soon I'll ride it again. I installed the mufflers over one week ago. The only reason I was able to ride and listen to them is because it got up in the 50's yesterday. I just wanted to hear them plus see if the oil cooler I installed had any leaks. When I returned the salty road grime needed cleaned off.
I had the Screamin Eagle Street Performance Touring mufflers on my 06 Ultra and loved them both around town and on the road. I liked them so much I never really considered anything else for my new 09 Ultra. The new bike and pipes sound even better and slightly throatier than the 06, probably because of the longer stroke. I rode the Ultra right at 800 miles before I had the Stage 1 AC kit download and mufflers installed. Seat of the pants, the bike revs a little quicker and definately sounds better, although the 09 stockers were a whole lot better than the ones on my 06.
I have the Stage 1 with the A/C, SERT, and SE Street Performance Touring Mufflers on my '09 Ultra and I like these slip ons much more than the V&H Ovals I had on my '08 Ultra with the same setup.
WOW not another one to choose from. i am wanting to add some slip-ons to my scoot and there is some great sounding ones out there, and now you tell us about another one. Gee Thanks Bro. i never will be to make up my mind.
