Been using heel toe since 1977 or so , the secret is to adjust both shifters to where they are really close to the footboards , then you barely have to move your foot to shift ..
FWIW the heel shifter on my 08 stripped out at 1800 miles
Having a heel/toe shifter was one of the things I was most looking forward to when I bought a bagger. But at first it wasn't all I had thought it would be. Stock shifters are just too closely spaced to get your foot comfortably on the board. I bought the EZ shift levers for front and rear and have loved it ever since! All kinds of room for my left foot and a good angle on the rear shift lever. I only need lift my heel slightly to shift. Now if I'd just get off my *** and order the EZ brake lever I could get my right toe's out from under the brake pedal too!
Toe only. I tried........... but this old dog can't get used to the heel shift. All it took was one accidental nuetral and I took that sucker off asap. Saved it in my spare parts seeing as I can invert it and so it's really just an extra toe shift.
Do most of you that convert from heel/toe to only toe leave the stock lever where it comes stock and place a cover over the spindle? Or, do most put a spacer behind it to push it to the end of the spindle?
