My HD dealer carries Plexus and another product called Protect All meant as a detailer for all surfaces and it contains carnuba wax.
I beg to differ on opinions of how Pledge works. It does have a slight amount of ISOPARAFFINIC HYDROCARBON SOLVENT. This is actually to remove oil, grease, finger prints, etc. not to dissolve the clear coat finishes. And no lemon oil...sorry, just lemon scent. Another ingredient is .5 to 1.5 % hydrotreated heavy naphtha which is used in thousands of products in greater quantities especially in waxes and cleaners such as Rally car wax, Armor All tire care, Meguiars Cleaner Wax, everything from shoe polish to antiseptic hand cleaner. Just about everything you can think of has some sort of petroleum hydrocarbon or derivative in one step or another in manufacture. Plexus also contains a solvent...aliphatic petroleum hydrocarbons distillates solvent. Yep, chemicals alone listed in products can't tell you much or help much in understanding how they work unless you have experience in chemical research and product development. And the bottom line is how well they work for the application.

BTW HarleyDawg, the pledge Klean and Shine contains 10-30 percent hydrotreated heavy naptha. I wouldn't know how this would be for windshields since I haven't tested it myself. I'd say the cleaning properties would be better but I haven't found the need for anything other than plain ole Lemon Pledge. Why don't you do a prolonged test with it and let us know if it harms your windshield?

As far as detailers with carabuna wax in them...you can keep them if they suit your needs, they for SURE don't suit mine. After using pledge I hate the wax detailers.

Honda spray cleaner and polish. I tried that pledge crap and was not impressed. I like the shine and easy on off of the Honda spray cleaner.

That's funny, I used that Honda spray crap when they still called it HONDA spray cleaner instead of Next Dimension brand. It was my least favorite of anything I ever tried. I just hated the greasy smudges and the work to get them off. I guess you have to say what ever floats your boat is good enough for you and leave it at that. I guess I am just a perfectionist in what works best for me but always did try them all before I found the ultimate.
I think climate conditions also come into play. In very humid climates like I live in so many products show the residue and do not look as good and are hard to work with. I guess my testing is in much harsher environments than some people are accustom to.

Thanks for the tip on the Novus. Have some light scratches on my shield and thought I'd have to live with them. Maybe not. What sort of places carry this product or is it mail order.

I used to use the Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish. I thought it was great. They've rebranded something they're calling Honda Glare Professional Polish. Also have a complimenting cleaner, Honda Glare Ultra Wash. Read about it on another thread somewhere on this forum. I plan on trying it out this season.

Here's a review (on the original manufacture product). If read through I think you can find a link to the Honda label. It's easier to get.

Some waxes seem to attract dust like magnets. How does the Pledge do with respect to attracting dust? Better of worse than Ice, or PigSnot, etc.?

There were a few people giving great reviews on a product called Glare. You can go to their crazy website and read about it but found out that Honda Glare is the same product relabeled for Honda and is much cheaper. I have 2 local dealers that carry the spray and polish and i like the results and the price. Have not seen the new polish spray down here yet they still sell the original formula.

Yeah, I'm not saying that PLEXUS is the end all but it is proven across the spectrum. Unless HD windshields are different than others which could very well be the case I will stick with it. A bit pricey but a can goes a long way. I use it on my Helo everyday in the Corps and it keeps the window clean, helps against dust build up and water beading is good too. I know all the pro racers are using it in the pits too for GP and AMA Superbike racing for years and it works the best all around for my applications.

FYI, opinion goes a long way in these forums and all advice is great to make the best decisions. I got a lot of buddies in the race scene which put me on the PLEXUS kick and it came over with me when I got off sportbikes and went HD.

They use WD40 to clean their bikes though too so I can't say I would take all the advice of my racing buddies. Great for the track bike but I think I will stick to Mothers on my HD paint.
