Dont mean to hijack the thread.. but...Does anybody know the difference in the earlier yrs and the later yrs?? Mine is a '94 and everything I see is for '96 and up.. length? size?? anybody???
seems like a lot of messing around. I waited til the winter sales and bought a harley brand stainless rod with ends for 60$. All cut to length and it will look like it's not something that someone just threw together.

Ball Joint Rod Ends

I know the catalog refers to this as a "ball joint" but there is a distinct difference between a ball joint and a Heim joint. What is pictured in this post is a Heim joint, named after it's designer. A ball joint is nothing more than a ball and socket and is found most commonly at the transmission end of the shift linkage. They fail due to vibration and then the socket no longer holds the ball in place.
Sounds **** but if you ask for a ball joint you won't get a Heim joint. You want a Heim joint and they are available from any HD, aftermarket, hotrod, racing or fastener catalog. Super easy to find.
