Just got back from my first ride of the spring. It was great! First time I've riden with the Clearview 8 1/2" Recurve, Grey shield and the redo by Mean City Cycle.
First: The Clearview shield is great. I can see completely over it by 1" to 2". All the wind goes over my helmet. Quality shield.
Second: Mean City Cycle lowered my seat about 1". This allows me to get both feet squarely on the ground, and I don't have reajust at every stop. This means I won't be lowering my ride. I think I might have lost a little comfort. To be fair let me ride a little longer and I'll do another review. Overall good quaility job.
Third: New HD shorty antenna. worked great, no loss of tunes. 13 inch.
I agree with you on the clear view its one good windshield and it is about twice the thickness of a stock shield. I have a 6" dark smoke for the summer and a 12" clear for winter. Both have the recurved top. Even the short one keeps most of the wind off my face and bugs.
It's funny, I did almost exactly the same mods this winter on my Street Glide. Just bought an 8.5" recurve smoke Clearview and had MCC rework my seat. No riding here yet (we just had an ice storm last night) but I sure am getting itchy to try everything out...
My 6.5 Clearview w/recurve was shipped today and will get here next wednesday and i cant wait. I also had MCC do rework my seat. I made an appointment and rode over on my 09 UC. They narrowed the front of seat and add memory foam. Lowered seat a little and lot more comfortable then ordered the shield. Cant wait.
