Default Transfering an XM Module Between Bikes

I have a buddy with an '07 Screaming Eagle Ultra that of course came with all the radio goodies including XM, GPS, etc. He tried it and doesn't think it is worth the monthly fee.

I have an '07 Ultra Classic with the same radio and CB but without the XM or integral GPS. What would be involved in moving his XM unit and antenna to my bike? Would I have the harness connections since I have CB?

Is this difficult at all or an easy transfer?

Thanks for any advice....

Haven't done this myself, but I understand that those modules are plug and play. This means the radio head is prewired to accept all the modules that can be added. I know on my bike, if I push the "NAV" button, it tells me that module is not installed (gps).

Yes...I bought one used right here on HD Forums...straight plug and play as long as you have the latest software update on your radio. You may need a wiring harness also...the antenna and bracket will come off his bike.

got hooked on XM years ago so when I bought my 07 EG Classic I used the gift card to buy the XM. box mounts on top of radio and I had to install the Ultra harness (which you have) so I would think it is plug n play.

Did the same thing on my Ultra. Take the SEUC's XM Unit, antenna, antenna mount, and the wiring harness. If you look at your bike and the SEUC, you'll easily notice which harness you need for the xm. Once you remove the XM harness, his main harness will re-connect in the same fashion as your's before the exchange.

Hope this makes sense!

When it comes time to renew XM, complain about the price and tell them you want to drop it. Mine when from over $140 for a year to $67. They're hurting for business.

I did this exact thing earlier in the week and got it for $67.00 also. I was @ $142.00 previously. It was kind of funny, when I asked about getting a better rate, they guy on the other end of the phone went right into a script about the economy and that they would hate to lose me as a customer if I was finding it "difficult" to afford it. I laughed and said it had nothing to do with being able to afford it, I just didn't want to pay double what I have heard others paying. Even he had to chuckle a bit.
