Default Removing Driver Backrest

Can anybody give me a hand on how to remove the driver backrest from the Ultra Classic in order to remove the seat to change the battery?
Thanks'

Dude, Stick your hand down in where the backrest is and see if you can squeeze the 2 bars together. If you can just sqeeze and wiggle and it will come out. You also have a bolt in the back. Raise the tour pack lid and you will see it. Hope this helps. It all depends if you have the rest like I have.

Dynk,

Since you haven't indicated which drivers backrest you have (adjustable or non-adjustable), I'll assume that you have the same one that I do (non-adjustable).

When the drivers backrest is inserted into the bracket (normal mode) and vertical, it should tilt forward. Once tilted foward, you should be able to slip your hand down the rear opening within the seat and pinch the two vertical rods that are part of the backrest support bracket or frame.

Sometimes you can remove it in 30 secs., othertimes you'll have to mess with it for a while

Note: It will take longer to re-install it!

Thanks, I have the adjustable one that tilts back and pops forward for passenger boarding. I appreciate the answers, and I will go try it right now

OK, Didn't work. Mine adjusts Up and Down and Tilts Forward and Backward, so it must be the adjustable one. There is a release switch on the side that releases it back to the neutral positioin from reclined.

on the right side (as you are sitting on it) there is a small release lever as you reach down into the seat.

If you run your hand down the metal bar that holds up the actual backrest you will feel it where the bar meets the mount, push it out towards the right side of the bike while you pull up lightly on the backrest.
