Make sure that the bag lid is properly engaged in the two inside latches before closing. If they're not engaged right the latch won't over center and lock down properly. There might be a way to adjust them by bending them a little.
I have to lock it now... but on occasion if I forget I have to keep an eye on it and figured there was a quick fix for this.
I know I latched down hard on that side one time to get my stuff to pack in... they may have gotten something slightly out of whack or put some slack in it. My other side... I lost the lock arm that rotates to lock position. Had to get it at HD for just a few bucks... didn't know they HAD ANYTHING for just a few bucks!
do a search.....alot of threads on it. check the fabric piece on the inside of the lid with the HD emblem on it.....it sometimes creases and gets between the bag and the lid itself. heres a link to a thread with posts about it https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ping-open.html
You can bend the little tabs where the latch snaps in. My dealer showed me this awhile back. It's very easy and prevents the lids from ever opening on there own. Easy fix.....
