Default Re-applying weather strip on inner fairing

I took off my inner this past week and painted it. I am now going to put it back together in the next few days. I am needing to know if I should use the old strips or get new ones? That and if I use the old ones, what should I use to reattach them. They are not tore up. Thanks.

Get new ones, for what they cost it's worth it. If i remember right they were like 10 or 15 dollars. New ones come with sticky stuff in them.

Using a toothpick, lay Super Glue into the strip, and reinstall it onto the inner. Even new, that strip does not hold well, especially after getting dislodged once.

Mine hasn't budged for over eight years.

A few dabs of RTV clear silicone will work fine.

I just bought new ones for reinstalling my newly painted fairing. With a new paint job, I didn't choose to use the old gaskets; they do age, at least on my '04 EG.

I reused mine...mounted them with 3M automotive double stick tape...the red-backed stuff. Easy and clean. And that tape defines agressive adhesive...

if you've ever used the yellow gorilla snot glue, it's very sticky, a rubber cement sort of stuff in a tube, by 3-M, they also make it in black and available at auto zone or most parts houses. i use the stuff a lot, it works great for attatching stuff that you want to stay put. crazy glue would likely dry before you could get the part back in place. and the double stick tape should also work, i just mentioned the gorilla snot cause it's what i keep in stock here at my shop.

If the old fairing trim is in good shape you can reuse them.
It's a good idea to scrape out all of the old adhesive first.

I used Loctite Super Glue when I re attached the trim on mine.

I had already taken mine in the shop 2 or 3 times for the dealer to fix this issue. What ever adhesive they used would turn to goo in the heat and the trim would come off in a few places.

Mine have not come off since using super glue
