Question Request Information From Monster Oval Owner's Only

I'm thinking about installing the Monster Ovals on my 97 Road King with the 1340 EVO engine and stock head pipes. Previously, I was considering the Screamn' Eagle Street Perfomance Slip ons, but they're made for the 88 & 96 cu inch engines and mine is an 80".
Would like to hear pros and cons from those of you who are running the Monster Ovals; how do they sound out on the open road at different speeds and do they cause any of you to have ear ringing after a long run?

I have the MO's on my '08 Road Glide and am quite pleased with them. They have a very deep rumble that is not perceived as loud by most neighbors and really help the bike to sound "like a Harley" without being obnoxious.

From the "cockpit" they seem louder than from a distance. I'm really happy with them around town, but from time to time they are fatiguing on tour. I've tried earplugs and that has helped considerably, but the tone is of such low frequency that most of the sound comes right through the earplugs.

Overall, I consider the MO's to be a "keeper", and consider the drone of the pipes to be a reasonable tradeoff for the very satisfying tone and the increased performance that they give. It seems reasonable that increased sound is a byproduct of a freeflowing muffler that improves performance.

I just swapped out the Screaming eagle street performance for the V&H True dual header pipes with the Monster ovals. I have to say I am very glade a switched the response is much better on the right hand. The sound is much a much deeper and loader rumble the the SE slip on's and holds it tone at all speeds and though all gears. Only been riding with them for a week so I am not sure if the sound is going to get to me but right now the look sound and preform great and I am very glade I did the swap.

Mark me down as another satisfied MO customer. I get a lot of compliments on them and they are just right for me.

I went from Performance SE mufflers to the MOs. The sound, imho, is deeper and not as fatiguing on long rides. Chrome on tips peeled, but were replaced w/o any questions. I'm keeping them.

BillyBob,

Here I know you only want info on the Monster Ovals, Here is a link the Supertrapp muffler that was the original SE Slip on. I had these on my 97 RK and Just loved them. With the changable endcaps it really allows you to customize your look. I had the trundowns and my friend new when I was was about 2 iles from his house because of the unique sound it made.

Best sounding setup I've ever had. Much quieter and deeper tone than the SE's I had originally. Like someone said, the caps peeled, but were replaced by V&H.

You'll love the Monster Ovals for sure. Probably the best Mod I made for My bike to date! The deep rumble isn't overly loud...but people know you're there! I've done a few long trips and found the tone pleasant and not tiring. but like Pastor John stated...some will have that issue!

Now...it's amazing when people ask for one thing in a thread they create...that someone else pops in with something else! I guess you can't even ask for just one thing to be discussed abotu in your own thread! Amazing!

Ride Safe, Mike

I just switched from Jackpots to Monster Ovals yesterday. Very pleased with the look and the MUCH deeper sound. Overall, I'd say volume is comparable but the deeper tone makes the MO's seem louder.

Downloaded the MO / SE-AC canned map from Dynojet for my PCV and everything seems to be running tip-top. Havn't had a chance to get a long range cruise in yet but I really like these and think you will too.

Before and after pics.
