Default Progressive Shocks & Oil Temp Gauge

I've read nothing but raving reviews for Progressive shocks so I've decided to order some along with an oil temp gauge to replace the air temp gauge on my '06 Ultra Classic. I'm confused with what size and type of Progressive shocks I should get. I'm 180 lbs and my wife is 130 lbs if that makes a difference. Do the shocks lower the bike? Also, I'd like to know how difficult it is to install the oil temp gauge. My bike has not arrive yet so I'd appreciate any information you can pass along so I can go ahead and get these two items ordered. Thank you.

Get in touch with Progressive and give them your info and they will match the shocks to fit your needs. I think you can have them lowered or left same height as stock.

Go with the standard springs, if you want to keep the same height than 13" are the ones , 12" will lower the rear about 3/4 - 1" , by the way we're talking the progressive 440's. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined the oil temp gage is easy if you get the one from Wallys , I would stay away from the HD one , don't care for the way the sensor mounts in the rubber oil line.

Definately get the Rodger McKewan oil temp guage from Wally's or anyone that carries it. It's in the Drag specialties or Custom Chrome catalogue.

Wallys have them on sale for $89.95 with free shipping so I thought I'd go that route. I just want to make sure I order the correct one for an '06 Ultra Classic. Here are the choices: http://www.wallyscycleworld.com/virt...osdatapage.asp

Looking to purchase a silver faced one myself. Good price, anyone know if this one will work on a SG?

Streetglides take the silver face gauge kit from HD (75324-05 $131.95) and Wally's is the aluminum face (21-GK61537A $89.95).. The MOCO gauge is a closer match than Wally's.. You can mount HD's sender unit in the same place as Wally's by using a 1/8 to 3/8 pipe nipple. There are several on line HD dealers where you can get 15-20% off to make the price more attractive.

Smitty,

Welcome to Baggersville, congrats on the new Ultra. Sounds like Wally's is a one stop shop for you.

Being that you have an Ultra , JMO, go with Heavy Duty Progressive 440's. Granted me and my Ol'e Lady weigh in heavier than you, you have the potential to pack just as heavy as me.

How tall are you, I'm 5'11" 200# with a 32" inseem. I went with 13" HD's and couldn't be happier with the ride, 2-up or solo, and I never have to mess with shock adjustments.

If you re-locate your Temp. sensor for your air temp gage it will be ALOT more accurate. If you knew your oil temp it would only freak you out, dont worry about it , the bike has a Heat Mgmt. system built in.
