ignition switch crackling noise

04 Electra Glide.

When I turn my ignition to on, I get a crackling noise thru my speakers, whether the radio is on or off. If you are fimiliar with this, the sound is the same as when you would hook up your stereo speakers and hear the crackling. Any thoughts?

Hi, Got a friend with a 2001 Ultra with a humming noise very noticeable same thing key on every thing else off tach not working and not running so good. I was also looking for input, Thanks.

I would start by looking at the grounds..

I thought so too, just got here in FL and have not had time to look myself. I thought I could try to narow it down to one area before I got into it. Laptop died (less than 1 year old) and the wiring diagrams are in that. I have bace up on external drive just have to find it. Thanks

Mine was doing that when the ground wire to my amp broke.

Not sure were the ground for the amp is but I found all the grounds in front of battery and all were intact. After checking many connections I found loose ground between frame and fork and that made no difference. Just happened to apply the brake and the noise changed swapped starter relay with the brake relay and noise went away. There is also a problem with the way this bike runs and will test that tomorrow when we get battery charged back up.
