Default Street Glide & chaps

I run a 8" windshield it works great for me. Problem comes when I wear chaps the wind seems to shoot up the front of my legs & blast me right in the face. If I hold my hands flat out in front of my knee's it stops the wind. This doesn't happen at all while wearing jeans, anyone else have this problem?

i bought a pair of chaps. why? hell i don't know. it sure wasn't because i wanted to imitate one of the village people. flat train, it would help if we knew what type of bike you're riding. batwing, roadking, roadglide? i would expect it's a batwing bike, and if so, there are great adjustable wings that bolt on to the lower outside edge of the fairing, which will eliminate that problem. one dumb question, if it doesn't happen at all when wearing jeans, then why not just wear jeans?

The leather is smoother than denim, so air just slides up your leg. How's that?

I'm guessing the bike he is riding is a Street Glide only because this thread is titled "Street Glide and Chaps." I might be wrong.

emwolb I just couldn't resist.

I have the same problem with baggy jeans, they craw up my leg. The chaps have more material to catch the wind than the jeans you wear.

Said "Street Glide" in the subject. Chaps make cold weather riding much more pleasurable.

I don't know why the wind would be worse with jeans then with chaps, except maybe your chaps don't collapse as much and act more like a sail or something. I'm assuming you are wearing the chaps because it's cold outside. Maybe think about getting some vinyl or leather lowers. Maybe even a set of color matched hard lowers.

yeah peddler, just noticed that. thanks. i just put the chaps in a box for storage and got some of the fabric insulated pants that go over the jeans. i just couldn't get chaps to stay up, and anything that you're constantly having to grip the belt and tug back up was getting old, so the ride master or whatever tough fabric outer pants that go over the jeans really worked out for me. that was one of the first mods i made to my streetglide, after replacing the useless windshield was the little wings that attach to the lower outside edges of the fairing. you can direct the air flow quite a bit with them.

Default Balloning Chaps

Have them taylored, most are big through the leg plus being a little long. I had the same experience and was not a happly camper. The folks at Eagle Nest H/D gave me the card of a lady who taylors leather goods for all sorts. Anyway $20.00 dollars later no ballooning.

Hoped you were laughing as hard as I was when I wrote that comment...only because we've all been there at some point in time.

I couldn't agree more about the air deflectors on the batwing. I modified my '07 batwing to accept the '08 and later Harley adjustable air deflectors. One of my best upgrades. Ultra lowers also make a very big difference. Not sure how they look on a Street Glide but they sure do work well on my Ultra.

It doesn't matter wheather you are wearing jean or not the air blowing from underneath impacts alot of riders on Street Glides on this forum. i have tried all options and it was not until I put on Hogg Chopps lowers that the buffering went away.

Do a search and you will find plenty of comments on the subject.
