I ride an 04 Ultra and the other day the throttle stuck open three times when getting hard on the gas, it had to be shut down with the kill switch. The cable felt like it was going back to the right position, any ideas or is it time to bring her in. It has 24K and I just had the 20k service done at 21K. Thanks for any help or ideas you might have.
Your throttle return cable (or both cables) may need to be lubed or replaced. If the cable is frayed (from the inside) it will stick. Also, check the spring at either the injector body or carburator, where the throttle cable connects. Test the spring and make sure it returns.
If you've done all of these checks and they are all fine, your problem maybe in the ECM (if fuel injected.) A lot of times, the dealer will not do this check, unless you're complaining about it.

I would hesitate to ride the bike any further until you have someone figure it out, I had the throttle stick on one of my old springer a few years ago, not a fun thing.
You can pull the housing of the throttle off easily and pull each cable by hand to see which one is binding and replace it. Are you getting any warning lights on the speedo? Did you run a diagnostic?
I tried that excuse one time in court...it didn't work. Seriously, like others said, get it worked out before you ride it again. May get a lot of gas at the exact time that you don't need it.
Does your bike have a throttle tension adjustment? The little thumbwheel under the switch housing? I know it sound's obvious but is it possible that it just got tightened a little too much?
Finally got around to looking at my bike. I checked and lubed everything I could, but I didn't see or feel aything wrong with the cables or springs, I guess I will take it in. Thanks for all the help.
