Default StreetGlides '06-'10

Since I sold my Streetbob I've been trying to educate myself on StreetGlides. The salesguy at the local dealership went through all the changes on the '09 touring models, frame, 180 tire, etc. I know in '06 they had the 5 speed, the '07 has a smaller gas tank than the '08s and then the '09s and I know the '10s have the new exhaust.
Has anyone ridden all or most of the different models and is there a BIG difference and if so, what are they? For instance: Is the '09 THAT much better than an '08?

I've got an '08, My old man had an '08 and then an '09. He said he noticed a little difference in the ride due to the changes in the frame, but not much. I've ridden both, and can't say I noticed anything. But that may be due to me not riding the '09 very much. If I were going to buy one and want to get the most for my money, I'd say go with one that's definitely got the 96" with the six speed, but that's about it. I wouldn't be too concerned with the '09 or '10. But that's just my opinion.

I have an 08 with ABS, given the choice....I'd go with a 09 or 10 with ABS and the new frame and larger rear tire.

Like my 09, don't care much for the exhaust on the 2010 models but that can allways be changed.

I have ridden them all. I prefer the looks of the smaller tank on the old bikes and the feel of a throttle cable, but by FAR the best bike is the 2009. Even better than my '10.

The 2010 Exhaust is a joke, plus the new ECM uses lambda tuning which seems more difficult to deal with than the older ECM's that use requested AFR's.

The 2009 has a better exhaust head pipe, even without a cat in most states. It uses 18mm 02 sensors which are common, unlike the 12mm sensors on the '10.

The 2009 has a 17" front wheel, which surprisingly rides much smoother than the 18" on my 2010.

The 2009 has gearing changes in addition to the frame change, which makes the bike a pleasure to ride. The pre-'09 six-speed bikes feel like they start out in second gear because the gearing is so tall. Sixth gear is unusable until 70mph.

Another thing that I like about the '09 bikes is that it has a straight-cut 5th gear. It acts like an audible fifth-gear indicator in addition to the sixth gear light on the speedo. My '10 is silent in all gears except first.

The '09 has a conventional tail light, which is much safer than the '10 model, particularly when you add the run/brake module to the blinkers. Plus there's a selection of cool LED tail lights available.

In my opinion, the '09 is the best year yet for the Street Glide.

I've rode all years except for the 2010. I have been looking long and hard for the past three months and found a 06 SG that was perfect for me. Had the right miles (8,000), was a one owner bike, had the right amount of accessories, and best of all - the right price of $11,600. Sure, I'd rather a 2009, but I just cannot justify the prices people are asking. My advice, be patient and the right deal will come along.

09' here, You can get a wide tire kit I believe and I'll bet that ABS will be an accessory before to long but I got it for the new frame. Get a 96" with the six speed.
