I got my 12" MBB's the other day and got the instructions from TexasSG (THANKS). I went shopping with the wife and stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up some shrink tubing and welding wire to fish the wires. I didn't see any wire I thought would work but I did see a 50' round nylon fish tape so I thought I would give it a try. Got home around 6 and went out to the garage to give it a try. I had already ran my TBW through and that was a piece of cake so I thought I would go with the left side wires first. I ran the fish tape through, attached the wires and added a generous application of hand lotion. It took a couple tries to get past the sharp corner at the top of the bars but after that they came through easy. I have read alot of horror stories about how hard this is but so far it seems pretty easy. I now move to the right side which I know is not going to be as easy beacause of the TBW harness being in there already. I fish the tape through without too much of a problem and attatch the wires. After another generous helping of lotion I start pulling. As soon as I get to the sharp corner I get stuck. I spend a few minutes pushing and pulling but get nowhere. I start thinking about pulling the TBW wires out and shrinking all the wires together. I figure I will give it one more try and see what happens. I start pulling and bam it comes through! I Get all the wires ran in under an hour. I was expecting alot more problems but it wasn't bad at all.
So I was about to pull the trigger on my 12" MBB order and began wondering how many MBB users here went with the Yaffe SRC one piece riser clamp with theirs. The Yaffe site says that they recommend their one piece clamp on pre-2007 baggers...anyone here pay the extra $50 for the clamp or did you stick with your OEM two piece clamp? Just curious...

Happy New Year to you all, by the way
You don't have to buy Yaffe's one piece BUT you do have to get a one-piece from somewhere. You are also going to want poly bushings. This is a big expensive job, don't cut corners on things like this.

10-4 Dew, I'll spring for the clamp! Poly bushings you say?
Heck, while I'm at it, I believe I read earlier on here that you were good with +2 on the clutch cable on your 12's, right? No other new cables/lines were needed?

You might be able to use 08 and up clamps. Ask a Harley Dealer parts guy to be sure. Might be able to find cheap at a Harley junkyard or Ebay. I bought Polyurethane bushings from Harley. I think a company called Gooden Tight makes them for Harley if you can find them cheaper that way. Harley should've put Poly's on to begin with as they are better with a longer life span. It becomes more important as you raise the bars.
I went 10 and did +2 clutch. Everything else worked at stock length. Another variable is if cable lengths are the same with new frame. If you can find StreetGlideTroy he is in the middle of this job right now on an 06 and is doing MBB 12's. He should have the exact answers you desire. I've been helping him out so tell'em I referred you.
P.S. Several with the current frame say they have gotten away without any new wires on MBB 12's. If I had to guess though I think pre-09 handlebar wiring are shorter. May have to replace everything.
