TTS says "no way" I'm tired of trying to figure it out alone...what's the forum for if not to get called a moron for being ignorant lol! Yes I have the manual, and yes I did everything according to the instructions...the only thing I can think of is the tuner. Anyone get me complete values and program name used to program? Images or any info would be HUGE!!!
tuning device or tuner? The device itself is simply a tool to tune the bike with and try to get it at it's optimal running efficiency. To blame a device for this is ludacrist. There are 100 different reasons why those head gaskets could have blown

1.) static compression
2.) uneven surfaces on the head(s)
3.) too much advance/retard of the timing in the tune itself
4.) too lean
5.) valve clearance
6.) rocker or pushrod adjustments being misaligned
7.) cylinder sleeve shifted
8.) improperly torqued head bolts

the list goes on and on. The questions I have are;
1.) who did the 107" and cam work?
2.) who did the tuning?
3.) have you verified nothing else is damaged? (crank, tappets, pushrods, etc)
4.) do you have a warranty on this build?

Lol
I got confused while reading all the pages.
I meant to post here.

Great write up, I am definitely going to do my onw.
I was going to bring it in for tensioners after I change my pipes and a/c then have the cams done too and get it tuned.
Now I think I am going to do this myself and have it tuned after.
Thanks for a great write up.
my questions is about tensioners,

Unless I missed it you didnt do the tensioners while you were in there right?

I was just wondering if you did and I missed it.
I hear a lot of talk about them wearing out and becoming an issue, so I was planning on replacing mine while I do the cams.

I wanted to know if you didn't bother or if I just missed it.
I realize this is an old thread so I dunno if the OP is still around or not.

atrain68 is definitely still around and contributing. He did not change them (at least not in this write up) probably because they were not worn. I know there are a few people that have had issues with the tensioners but for the most part this topic is so blown out of proportion it's not funny. I had 67k on my 06RK when I dropped cams in it. The tensioners looked like they had just been put it. My 09 Ultra had close to 40k when I sold it but shortly before, dropped cams in it as well. Shoes were in the same "new-ish" condition.

Doing the cams is fairly easy. The key is this;
1. Get a service manual, it's a MUST
2. take your time and label everything.
3. take your time
4. take your time

I think you get the point. The first two times I did it, I cut the stock pushrods and put in adjustables. I hated them.. too noisy. So when I did my cams on my 12flhtk a couple of weeks ago, the 254e cams had the same base circle as the stock cams so I pulled the rocker boxes off and kept the stock pushrods. It literally added another 30 minutes to the project.

I'm not blaming the device...hence my request for someone who has pertinent information such as the program name and parameters...#4 on your list is a possibility and that's why I'm looking for someone who has done more tuning and maybe sloved this issue already. It isn't that I can't figure it out, I'd just like to save some time and energy if possible. I did the work (have taken apart and reassembled 5 motors with no issue) with proper tools and manual, so yeah it's warranted by me lol.

Thanks to atrain68's great documentation I'm going to take this on as my fall project next month. I'll need to get the various bearing tools, but will see if I can either pick up a set used on here or rent them as I figure I'll only need them once.

I am going to go with my stock pushrods since I only have 1300 miles on the engine since I purchased it in late September. I'm still trying to decide between the SE255's or the TW-222's.

hear (and see) good things about the 222s. With that being said, take a look at the 254e cams as well. I was talked into those a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. They pull strong and pull wide. Personally I wouldn't waste the time and $ on the 255s. they are simply a non-epa version of what you have in your 12' bike now.

what map did you start with on your 107 build? And sorry I didn't mean to come off like an a$% and certainly didn't mean to insult your intelligence :-)
