Default Radio\CD player for FLHT

I found a place where i can buy the radio kit for my FLHT for about $300.00 less than the dealer. Does anyone have any experience installing one of these?? Any help would be appreciated.

Just did this. I bought my radio from www.mandmcycles.com. VERY cheap by comparison to the listed price. It was a plug and play on the FLHTI.

3 screws to remove the windshield, 4 screws to remove the outer front (painted) fairing. As you pull off the fairing, disconnect the plug that goes into the headlight.

Now pull the two screw on either side of the radio spacer that is in your bike now...(total of four)

Soap up the front edges of your new radio, slide it in.

Plug the preexisting wire bundle into the radio (there is only one that fits).

You're done.

Before you go any further, you need to get after market speakers as the ones that come with the radio aren't worth the crap it took to make them. www.hogtunes.com will get you a set for right at $100.

You will also need an antenna. I highly recommend the powered antenna from Dakata Digital...

http://www.dakotadigital.com/product...ategory118.htm

Will get you there, you want the ANT2000.

Plug that in, put in the speakers. (3 screws each, and slide the connectors on both).

Put it back together (3 screws for windshield, 4 for the fairing)...

Ride and SMILE.

Let me know if you have any problems, or if you need pics of anything inside. I will take it all apart and get some if you need.

Try this one...

www.mandmcycles.com

The hyperlink picked up the period and threw things out of whack.

I am going to buy from www.biketronics.com where they sell and adapter kit for $199. This allows a Sony deck, which they sell as cheap as Crutchfield, to be mounted and wired with their wiring kit to work with the handlebar controls. Everyone has been pleased with the quality and sound of the www.hogtunes.com speakers. I am going to use the Dakota Digital ANT-2000 antenna, which is a hidden antenna that needs to be powered up. You can purchase everything for under $500 depending on the Sondy deck you choose.

I toyed with that option, but in the end, I elected for the tried and true, weather proof HD radio. It is more expensive though.

Post pics when you're all done!
