I want to see that beast when it's done. I'm close to McKinney in Rockwall. If you ever want an audience....

Have you ever run a center case bolt like that before? That modified bolt definitely ain;t as strong as original.

Man Phil, what a great choice of parts! Look like that beast is coming together nicely. I didnt even know S&S made cyls for this application, good to know thanks. You might have ran it before, but that oil pump is awesome. Such a progressive pressure with good flow and great scavenging ability. Revs a little snappier with that pump.

I am really curious to hear of a comparion bewtween your old tq hitting monster to a motor that will rev further out the rpm range. Ed tuning this on as well?

Love the pics, keep them coming.

Depends on the grade of steel used. It could actually be stronger than the original!!

Hey Phil. Looks like a cylinder base gasket instead of the o-ring used on most builds. Is that something unique to the 4.125" bore or was your HQ 120" 4.065 bore using that as well?

Default Dangit Phil....

Your obsession with big motors is like H1N1...... I think I am catching it AGAIN!! I will be expecting a call in the near future and on the other end of the line...potato, potato, potato....

Remember the good ol days when a HQ 95" was hot spit??

Take care,
RJ

I know I'm not Phil, but.....

In his initial post you can see where the o-ring lip has been cut-out of the case.
It looks to me like there isn't enough "meat" left to cut a new o-ring groove...thus the base gasket.

I'd be interested to know if using a gasket changes his torque value for the heads, though.

I know why the gasket is there, my question is at what bore does this change come into play? Maybe my question wasn't clear.
