the apes on my bob are way more comfortable than the drag bars i had on my fatboy.

they put you in the bike rather than on it.

that feeling of being in the bike gives me the confidence to throw my bike into turns, so no problem here with maneuverability or cornering on my bike.

but more importantly, they look cool.

the consensus I've seen on the CVO forums is that all stock hoses/cables will work fine for the 10" Monkeys.

10's yes, all cables stay the same, 12 and up, you need to change them from what I have been told! I bought 12's and changed all the cables (Stainless) and I love the look of the braided lines!

At twelve inches of rise from the mount to the grips,I don't consider mine "apes" but it sure is more comfortable!

It places my hands about 6" below my shoulder height and brings them back a bit allowing me to sit in a comfortable position. Control is about the same,if not better.

I'm not sure I would want to go any higher......I'm afraid I would loose circulation on those 600 mile days.

I had drag bars on my fatty and thought they were great but I never covered more than a couple hundred miles in a day and even then(I was younger) my back would feel a little beat up! It felt "sporty" but low bars are not good for long days.

The stock bars on my RK left me with the same discomfort after a couple hundred miles.

It is a personal preference. The only time my arms are fully extended is when I'm using my wife as a back rest! I'm 6'3" so your results may vary.
