MoCo Accessories - Poor
I know its hard to believe with the P&A book being over 800 pages and the Drag and Custom Chrome books being 3" thick but there was a time, not to long ago, that if you wanted to add a part to your bike you had to make it yourself or modify something that wasnt designed to fit your bike.
Just might be the actual difference between BIKERS and MOTORCYCLISTS!
You probabaly process coils from France, Japan, Brazil, Germany, and as you previously mentioned Korea and China. What about CSI in southern California but is that slab will that uses all of the melt sources previously mention. But what about Steel Dynamics, Nucor, US Steel and Mittal. But again what is your point?
But to your point Harley Davidson being a Mid West Manufacturer most likely use mills that are close to their plants. Albeit there is some foreign content in our bikes but by no means the "all" as you have characterized.
Please read my past posts, Langlitz Leathers are the best American made jackets out there, So your point? Also if wish to know Wesco shoe are also very good shoes and particularly the boot I ride with. Just wondering if that is your choice in the shop or on the bike?
But since you have degraded this to a school yard pissing match what jacket and boots are you wearing?
And please what is the point of your ignorant Korean/Chinese Statment?
Please go on.
2. That was pretty rude considering I was just trying to explain why some accessories may be better than others because of outsourcing overseas, and offered a suggestion on how not to get burned.
3. Let's say I was wrong about "all" the steel in my Road King coming from China. Let's say it is 50%, 20%, 10%, whatever. The point is I am bummed out about all the outsourcing overseas going on. That's why I wrote ...
"but something about a classic American motorcycle jacket
made in China on my back just hit too close to home this time. Maybe I'll just get a Chinese made Harley patch instead.
"4. My Korean/Chinese statement was me wondering why the hell you were so upset about me saying the steel came from China, so I thought you were perhaps Korean. Now I realize could be French, Japanese, Brazilian, or German too.
But again, you missed the point that I am just bummed out about all the outsourcing overseas going on.
5. Next time, try to focus on bigger points a guy is trying to make and less on the minutia and you'll sound less like the ****, nitpicking ***** you apparently are.

Based on my statement in # 21 you had no clue, Fact,
Nit-picking just getting the facts straight simpleton.

When you're spending $X on a part that is priced roughly double what it SHOULD be just because it says HD on it, you expect it to fit 100%, 100% of the time, and do EXACTLY what it says it will do - especially if there are less expensive options from other companies which fit better and/or work better.
When you're looking at a labor rate higher than your typical Mercedes or Porsche dealer charges, you damn well expect your "factory trained" technician to get it right the first time, know his job, know that an 09 touring frame is NOT an 08 touring frame, understand that TBW works differently than throttle cables and ABS isnt an add-on part. You expect them to actually READ the tech docs and pay attention in the training classes, and NOT to scratch your bike because they're lazy.
You expect not to be told "thats not a real Harley" by the dealer just because you want a VRod or a Sporty.
You expect not to hear outright lies about technical information.
All of the above would even be tolerable if there weren't alternatives which were less expensive, more reliable, better performing, more comfortable, and had more competent dealerships. Unfortunately for HD, there are alternate domestic manufacturers (and like it or not, Victory IS a domestic manufacturer, and it probably has more domestic parts in it than an HD does) as well as metrics which cost the same or less.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Don't misunderstand me - I love my bike. However, I loathe most of the dealers I've run into.
Maybe I'm just weird, but I expect the dealership and its service department to be at LEAST as knowledgeable about the bikes in general as I am.
