The fit of HD's parts is a hit and miss deal. Some fit good and others fit like crap, but what do you expect from Tawain ? That's where most of the crap hanging on the wall at the dealers come from.

So just to add a little humor to what you said. The local dealer sold me a layed back plate mount. I waited 5 weeks for it to come in so I could put it on before I mounted the rear fender. The instructions specifically say it won’t fit FL models when I opened it and also check clearances before installing. Two things I couldn’t do with the fender off. Aggravated me a bit.

Turns out the local dealer was spot on. Only thing I couldn’t use was the reflector that was part of it. It doesn’t contour to the fender. MOCO says it won’t work.
