Default Help With a Power Commander V with Auto Tune

I have a 2008 Ultra classic with Rinehart true duals , dorty power pack air cleaner and the power commander V with auto tune. The bike runs great but my fuel millage sucks can anyone tell me what to adjust to make this better. Or if I can buy a base map from fuel Moto. (I did not buy it from them like a dumb ***.) I went from 230 miles per tank down to about 165 MPT after installing the power comander, the new pipes and air cleaner

Help is needed i don't have the cash to have it put on the dyno

Thanks Brad

I bet the pipes a comparitively cool too. Sounds like the primary map has added way too much fuel. I don't think the auto-tune can compensate for that because it uses the primary as a baseline.
Go to the PC web site and find the nearest authorized tuner to you. Pay the $200 or so to have the primary map done right, on a dyno, and your auto-tune will do the rest.

You need to find out what AF your autotune is targeting. And you also have to make sure that it (autotune) is turned on.

one thing i have realized is the best mpg regulator is your wrist if you crank on it all the time yeah you are going to get crappy gas mileage i found out the hard way when i went from 40 mpg to 25mpg because all that power and you twist a little more then usual i backed off a little bit and mpg went up to 36mpg i can live with that so before we start looking for a mechanical issue try it and see what happens, just my .02

I do have the problem with the wrist. But I am sure that the mapping is way off

I would think that w/AT that the AT should be constantly tuning the bike to it's optimum, that is at least my take on it anyway. I don't necessarilly think that a "Tune" would help or is the solution to your situation. I would suggest that you call Jamie and tell him of your situaition and see what he says.

A common misconception about the auto tune is that it is plug and play, it pretty much is but you have to turn it on in the tools tab. You tell the auto tune what Air Fuel to target in certain ranges, i.e. lean in cruising and richer in higher TP's and RPM's and auto tune will make corrections to the VE tables to reach the set goal. He could have 1 or 2 issues, first is like I said, it could simply be turned off or second there is a setting on how much autotune is allowed to adjust, you can set it to only correct to 5 percent, which means that if the bike needs to be corrected more than 5% of where it is right now, it won't make the correction, it will record them and you can manually make the correction. I have only set up a few bikes with autotune, I tell it to correct 20% and let the customer ride for a bit then bring it back, after it has been "road tuned" I will lower it to 5%, you don't want the bike to have the ability to correct for everything, i.e. if you develop an intake leak and you have auto tune set to correct at a high % you might not even realize you are having a problem

But like I said, I have only messed around with a few PC's with autotune so I am by ne means an expert with them, if Jamie would be willing to help him that would be great for him and very impressive of Jamie, since he hasn't purchased anything from FuelMoto. The funny thing is, I have talked to tech support at DynoJet and they still recommend a dyno tune even with the autotune.

Here's a link to an excellent write-up on setting up the PCV-AT for mileage and cooling: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...d-cooling.html

Are you seeing any trims stored after riding? If not, something is hooked up wrong. If so, AT is working, just have to play with the AFR's do do better on MPG.

With the exception of MPG...how does the bike run? Any pinging or knocking?
