In my case the bike will occasionally--maybe once every couple of weeks in winter, less-often in summer--start-up idling at around 2000 rpms. This started late last summer. No amount of throttle blipping will make it idle down to its usual 950 rpms, and if I don't stop the bike it will stay idling at that level until I turn it off. Usually I can turn it off at the handlebar switch, then off at the ignition switch, and when restarted will usually idle normally for the rest of the day and probably for quite a few days thereafter. For me it is more of an irritation than a real problem.
Was having this same problem but, it was happening more often for me. My wrench was pulling his hair out trying to figure it out! Ended up being one of the fuel lines inside the gas tank had a pinhole leak so it wasn't holding fuel pressure. May be something to look into.
Why did you guys resurrect this frekkin thread! So I went on a 5 hour ride today and I get home and guess what. My flipping idle is super high. I cleaned out my IAC but no use. I'm going to order another TPS and see if that fixes it then that's not too bad. When I unplug my TPS the idle returned to normal so I think it is the sensor and if its not theni will replace the IAC.

Reason: oops
here is a new slant on things, 2007 FXSTC less than 3k miles. occationally has high idle (about 2-300 rpms high) combo spun alum speedo/tach. that is how I know the idle is a little high as a 200 rpm increase is hard to hear. after i shut down and restart it normally goes away. yesterday when I pulled into fuel up it was idling at 2000 rpms that I could clearly hear. the wierd thing is that if im riding after a high idle start, without restarting, the tach shows 500 rpms higher than normal at any given mph and gear. this should be impossible as the rpms say in 5th gear at 50 mph should always be the same. Am i really having a high idle issue or a bad tach. I could clearly hear the 2000 rpm high idle. is there some connection between the tach signal and the high idle issue. i'm so confused. going to my local shop on Friday to get it checked out.
Sorry to keep this thread going, but the high idle is not limited to the 2007.
I've had my UC in twice to the dealer - once when it was not high idling (it finally quit) and once when it was. They didn't have a clue what was happening and only reflashed the EFI.
I'm going in Saturday for my 10,000 mile check and definitely will be asking them about this . . .
When did the TC96 come out? Could it be related to the TC96 in general?
After all this ado about IAC motors, cleaning and changing mine yet having the idle issues repeatedly return, I think all my problems were tied to the TPS (throttle position sensor). My problem kept going away yet always returning, but about two months ago got worse making the bike almost unrideable and finally throwing a code that showed the TPS was failing. I changed the TPS ($31) five weeks ago and haven't had the first issue since that time. No idle problems, no misfires that have been plaguing me intermittently for over a year.
IAC and TPS won't affect '08s and above since they don't have either, but for non-TBW '07 and below I would advise riders with idle problems to at least consider the TPS as the culprit. It's hard to diagnose, or at least was in my case, as until the very last never threw a code and the problems would surface and disappear for often months at a time.
A-men I click. Mine never threw a code but for 28 bucks i gave it a try and it worked. Took it apart and found water and rust that must have came through the butterfly seal.
