I know it has been a while since anyone has posted on here, but I am at a loss. Any help will be appreciated.
I have an '07 Heritage and I've dealt with the low-idle stalling for about two years. I always thought it was a consequence of poor quality gas as it happened seldomly. However, my bike will not maintain idle when returning from higher RPM's at all now.
I have a copy of TT410 and have already replaced the ICM and the TPS. I would like to flash the ECM myself, but I have no idea where to start. I know I am going to need some sort of software/tuner, but have no idea if flashing an ECM is even possible with an aftermarket tuner. Also, TT410 mentions adjusting the voltage from the TPS. Is this do-able from a tuner.
I've called two dealerships and just don't want to take it in to them. I'd rather spend the money on hardware and software I can keep and fix this myself.
In short,
Can I flash my bike with the latest ECM calibration from my garage? If so, what do I need to do it?
Can I adjust the TP voltage from my garage? If so, what do I need to do it?
What's the easiest way to do that? From what I can tell, I'm going need to pull the oil tank and starter. If there is an easier and quicker way, please let me know.
Just an update as I have left some information out of my first post -
I did check to see if there were any codes associated with the bikes behavior and the bike gave P0131 and P0151. Both codes indicate the front and rear O2 sensors read a lean mix.
I did simulate the stop screw adjustment by putting a .025" feeler gauge between the throttle plate and the screw. The bike did idle better and didn't die when returning to idle from higher RPM's. It didn't seem to be 100% though.
Alright, just pulled the speed sensor. It looked clean - saw no shavings. I'm open to any other suggestions and a DIY way of checking/fixing the possible ECM issue.
Yeah, I replaced the TP sensor already, but no luck. I absolutely hate having someone else do work on my vehicles. If i have to buy a tuner to fix this, I will. I just don't want to go into something like this blind and not get the best thing for the job.
