Trying to get to the iac, how does the stock air cleaner come off, the 3 star bolts?

Just clean your IAC & Throttle body with a good cleaner.

Then again maybe faulty IAC's/TPS's have been the culprit all along????
This is my second 2007 HD bike. My Street Bob never had any idle issues and was set up exactly as my SG is. I think re-routing is a bit much.

Im not going to even try to venture a guess as to why so many 07's had issues with idle; maybe a bad batch of IAC motors off the line, maybe a bad batch of speed sensors, maybe they had the ECM set up improperly....whatever. I did all three to be certain.

Cleaning the IAC periodically MAY take care of the issue, but it will crop up again eventually....mine always did.

Is this a dealer part or an aftermarket part?

A lot of these posts were from 2 years ago, I just got my 07, 30k miles a couple weeks ago from a dealer. Stock air cleaner looks brand new. Had it die on me after a short hiway ride only once, otherwise OK. Is there a way to tell if the AIC has already been changed?

No way to tell. Replaced with exact same part.
The reason 07's were so problematic:
New 96 motor needed refinement!
Some of those related refinements as years ticked by:
* New FI design eliminated most idle issues (2008 again in 2010)
* New TBW (2008)
* New breather assembly (2011)
