It is a fuel management system that adjusts "on the fly" similar to a Thundermax or a PC V with Autotune. Unless things have changed the TC uses the stock narrow band O2 sensors while the Thundermax and PC V replace the stockers with wide band O2 sensors.

That you will, whether you want to our not. Unless things have changed, I think you'll find the octane levels are already somewhat lower up in the mountains than what you find closer to sea level. Sounds like a great trip though!
