I am looking at 2010 year-end bikes and notice that there are a lot more leftover Ultras than Classics. I am trying to rationalize the Ultra but I am not sure if the extra money is worth it. I want the cruise control so that is not an issue, but I wonder if the CB is worthwhile.
Ask yourself...How often do you use a CB...If your like me....Never.....The only real thing ya get thats nice is a set of lowers and speekers in the passanger seat area, other then that lowers can be added to a Classic just as rear speekers can be added....But then ya take in the cost of adding them later and it might be more cost effective buying the ultra if there isnt a REAL big price differance...It can be cheeper to strip down then add on.....

I don't use my CB except to listen to truckers to find out what is ahead of me, but there are other things on the Ultra that you may like, i.e. lower fairings, rear speakers, intercom, etc.
we got a Kojak with a Kodak around the corner better get your foot out of the floor...Ya back in the 70's spent time listning to cb's but never talking on one..
Get the ultra. CB is good to warn you where cops, communicate w/other bikes in your goup, accidents and stuff ahead. When you add these parts that are on an ultra, you will never get your money back when you trade.
Traveling on chapter HOG rides - use the CB; Traveling in groups - use the CB; Wanna insult my buddy while we're riding, and he's on his Ultra - use the CB; Want to find out from a trucker why the freeway is jammed up - use the CB.
But then in the old days, I use to order my sub sandwich half way between GFK AFB and town via CB! Fat Alberts had a CB radio inside!
Thanks for the replies. I agree that the lowers and speakers are nice additions. I am finding that if I am willing to drive a few extra miles (75-100) I can get a 2010 Ultra for just a little more than the price of a 2011 Classic- assuming that the new ones don't go up too much.
I use my CB when riding with my friends who have them. Not for chit-chat but to warn of hazards or tell leaders that some are stuck at lights, etc. It's a cool thing to have on occasion.
