Can anyone tell me why it is that the Harmon Kardon radio is such a peice of crap? I had my FLHX in the dealer 2 months ago for issues with the radio and they keep telling me that they are on back order. What makes this pile of crap radio so great that this is the second time i have had to have it replaced? Anyone want to buy it when I get it so I can put a real radio in my bike?
i have an 01.. my piece of crap broken stock stereo has been sitting on a shelf since 2 weeks after i bought the bike..the used kenwood stereo in the bike works great...
well my first one went out at 10k miles or 6 months and the second went out at 50k miles or 2 years. When i went to the dealer they told me i had to wait in line behind 7 other people whose radios have went out. So you ask why i think its a piece of crap... How about 2.5 months without a radio. You would think for what we pay for our bikes that they would at least put in a radio with some shock resistance
Don't know why You call them crap. I like My H-K radio just fine. I've had mine for almost 3yrs and no problems or issues.
+3 for me. Way better than the Radio Sound units I have had in the last three Harleys I owned. I have had all three different kinds that Radio Sound produced for Harley.(1986, 1989 and 1998 Ultra)

Your radio is NOT an Harman/Kardon. It is from Radio Sound. So you can't blame H/K for any problems you have had.

You have not said what model or year you have. So it is no telling who produced the radio you are complaining about.
I didn't care for the sound quality of my hk and I had water intrusion on my first one,no problems with the second(still didn't sound great imo) so after my warrenty ended I switched to Sony...Still smiling
My Radio works fine on my Ultra thinking about better speakers though .. actually have no complaints about my Ultra other than the stock pipes sounded wimpy took care of that problem ..
