Had them remove mine and replace with oil temp gauge before I took delivery. Still can't figure out why HD thinks it is a good idea to put that useless air temp gauge on their bikes??????
Mount the lil white sensor box on the outside down tube, mine is very accurate - I really only watch it in Winter......my 0.02 cents.
Mine works fine. If I replace it with an oil temp gauge and don't like the oil temp, what can I do about it anyway? I can't change the oil temp any easier than I can change the outside air temp.

Simple, it probable cost the MOCO ten bucks for the air temp hole filler, and then they can soak you a hundred and thirty four bucks to replace it with the oil temp kit....................More innovative MOCO marketing @ work.

That really is the only explanation that makes sense.

You could install an oil cooler, an oil cooler with a fan kit, or take advantage of the many tuning options out there that will let your motor run cooler. In the event your motor was beginning to run hot, and you were stuck in traffic or something, your oil temp gauge would tell you things are heating up and you could shut your motor off before any harm could occur. The way you take of a motor plays a big part in how long it will live.

I am curious as to where you found the "lil white sensor box" located at. I have looked at doing this several times but can never find the sensor. It must be hidden pretty good.
