I've been lurking here since around last xmas when I bought my 06 street glide. I have really picked up some good information from many of you guys, thanks. About 3 weeks ago I trade my 06 with se performance slip ons, vance and hines fuel pack and se air cleaner(stage 1)and a dyno tune, for a new 07 street glide. I have listened for the noise trans, I can make my 6th gear noisey if I lug it at about 55 mph(remember guys its an overdrive). I have listened for the whine in 5th gear.....and I have read many threads about no power. I am a lurker because I don't want to tell anyone they are wrong and possible all of you are right in your own accord. The seat of my chaps says my 07 has more power and 80mph in 6th gear is wonderful. I don't care if 5th whines a little (I really had to pay attention to make my self hear it and I am not certain my 06 didn't have it but nobody cared it wasn't new to the market). It is a harley so now can't all of us burley bikers do something more constructive and ohh I don't know maybe pic on some goldwingers or something fun?!
I would love to have 07 RG black with thunderheader pc3 dino tune with 510 cams gear drive xm radio and road zepplen air seat . Ill have to stick with my 2000 Rg with all that crap on it but I love here any way.
[color=#000066]Sounds like 1948, 1966, 1984, and 1999 all over again. Everytime the MoCo comes out with something new all the Nasayers jump on the bitching bandwagon and complain about what a piece of crap the new bikes are. How many of you "BIKERS" ever rode a Pan, Shovel, Iron Head, or evan an Evo across country. If you had and then rode a new bike, '05, '06, '07 whatever you would quit bitching, realize you can feel your fingers and toes, see straight and still walk to your HOTEL ROOM in Sturgis! Every year Harley has to comply with EPA noise AND fuel emmisions. Why do you think everything is FI this year? Do you think They wanted to put an ECM, TBI, and all the associated Much more expensive than a carb parts on a SPORTSTER!!!!Every year the bikes get better. Every year the people with last years bikes have to put down the new bikes because they dont have one. If you want to go fast out of the box BUY A JAP BIKE!!! If you want to ride a Harley Ride A Harley. Dont just OWN one and bitch about what its not. Sorry so long. Thats MY RANT!
I'm happy with my 06' bike. It's paid off, and upgraded with my parts. I'll be installing a 6 speed and 98" GMR setup this winter. I commute at 80 mph daily on Hwy 95 so I am interested in the overdrive. I surely wouldn't trade in my bike for a 07' model. I'll get more out of my 98" BBK then what adding pipes, PCIII and A/C will net on a 07' model.
Ok guys here are my actual numbers. Last week I installed rush slip ons, an SE air cleaner and a SERT. I uploaded the map for the 2007 touring exhaust with race exhaust (slip ons) and SE air cleaner. That alone accomplished what I was after. A little more noise, a little (very little) more pull and a heck of a lot less heat. I took it to the stealer today for the dyno tune and hear are the results. With my setup it was Max HP=75.62 Max Touque = 91.41. After the dyno tune it was Max HP=78.67 Max Torque = 93.55. I wish I had a base line before I installed anything to compare to but I didn't want to part with $75.00 for a peice of paper. As far as I can tell, the dyno tune was a waste of money other than peice of mind that what I had done was not hurting the bike. If this image works you can see my bike makes most of it's torque around the 3200rpm range which is where I normally shift anyway but I can see where some motorheads would like it to stay flatter until 5krpm. The biggest difference I can see is that they did flatten out the AF ratio on the low end.
As you may have read I installed the SERT, SE air cleaner and rush slip ons with the 1.75" baffles last week and reported a major drop in heat as well as a little more grunt. I had the bike dyno tuned today and here are the numbers. With my setup MaxHP=75.62 Max torque=91.41. After the tune MaxHP=78.67 Max Torque=93.55. The bike seems to run well for an 840lb bike carrying 550lbs or dead weight (my wife, myself and loaded packs). I'll try to post a pic of the dyno sheet.
this is a guys rescent #s on his 07--------i wish the 88 guys would stop hating. the 07s are faster. its a simple fact that most 88 owners are fond of.
