Default Smart Security Help

Ok here is the deal, when I turn off the ignition the system sets itself turn signals flash twice. The red key indicatorin the speedometer flashes every few seconds for about five times then quits. If you move the bike the alarm will activate, so I guess the system is working like it is supposed to except for the indicator.

No smart siren or pager installed, checked for codes and found none.

It appears to be working...

I did a self-install on a TSSM (Turn Signal Security Module) last week, set my PIN (I hope you set yours in the event your fob battery goes FUBAR), then took it to the dealer to marry the fobs to the system ('08 FLHT...Electa Glide Standard).

My security light flashes regularly (every few seconds) when the bike is sitting still, so I don't know the reason for the lack of 'heartbeat'.

You might try the Radio Shack siren mod mentioned in the DIY sticky on this website...for $6 and a a little Velcro it'll do until I decide if I want to spring for the more expensive H-D screamer; otherwise I'll look around and try to determine the proper mating connector for the siren and wire it up permanently.

BTW, the Radio Shack unit is part# 273-079. For the Radio Shack install, look for the same plug and simply insert the red wire of the siren into brown hole of plug and black wire of siren into the green hole of plug. Do not cut the plug off, just insert the siren wires into plug holes and then secure them with tape so they don't come out. Use some double sided tape or Velcro to mount the siren. You could of course solder the connections if you are so inclined as well.

Your're security system can be set up to self actuate, or to be manually activated with your keyfob. Take your choice.

sounds just like my '08. I'd say it 's working properly.

the newer security systems can't be manually set - no button. it sets automatically when the ignition is switched off.

Well let me try again, the system seems to be working normally except for the fact the system armed light (red key) (when the system is armed) does not flash every 3 to 4 seconds as it should. This is not a new system I had it installed by the dealer about six monts ago. I just noticed this malfunction today. So any ideas or has anyone run into this problem?

my '08 Fatboy came new with the security system - not sure if it was dealer or factory installed. my "red" key light wouldn't flash much either. and never with any repetition.
