I have the whirr in 5th gear and like it, because I know I am in 5th as for engine knocking are you lugging the engine, shouldn't be in 6th unless you are going over 65. I personally love the new 6 speed, when I had a 5 speed I was always looking for another gear.
Wow lots of hits and replys on this. I must be a lucky one. 07, noise? All Harleys from beginning of time did something wierd or didn't run right off the lot. Sorry, that's just how it is. Problem? Try www.honda.com LOL Go there and bask in the bliss LOL
Jethro, I don't mean to reply to you. This is just a general reply to this whole sensitive thread <BAG>
My IDS is finally installed. I'll pick it up this afternoon after work. When I ride it enough to get it hot, I'll report the results. Fromrecent post, I guess it does the job. Yeah! I'll love my FLHTCU again.
Ilike my 07 SG..and yes, it is a little noisy when it get's hot - so I do believe noise is a realistic issue with em...I am told the IDS fixes that and if it does I may add it down the road.
BUT..having read every post on the 07 noise thread..(if you go back you'll see my responses too) I was struck by the fact that most of the posts were from a small handful of members - more disturbing was the fact that other supporting posts were from members that had little or no posts elsewhere..most of which have disappeared from the forum now...my impression is the same now as then....that one or more folks wanted to fuel the fire and have manipulated the posts with other new accounts to make it sound like everyone has an issue with their 07s...yeah I said it..so flame on...
Now, I truly believe many folks don't like the tranny sounds of the 07..and it's their right to complain too...or sell their bike..but for the few to continue to suggest there's some massive coverup by Harly Davidson....or they are owed Baker transmissions...or to scare folks saying the 07's might seize up or that their bikes are worth less to the dealer...(etc)..That's a disservice to all the other 2007 owners here.
Those of you with this noise,do the IDS kit!It works.I have installed mine tonight and can honestly say today was my most enjoyable ride since owning my bike.I had th 5th,6th gear clatter and its GONE.
I have been hearing that too about the IDS. That's good news for people that had that noise problembugging the hell out of them. Apparently HD willstick with "we're ok with the noise but if your not, here's the fix". MaybeHD orsome dealers will help out with labor costs or discount the kit, if you guys kick like hell.
I been following this thread for a year and it made me wait to buy a new bike, which is looking like I'll try an 08.I know there aren't many guys with this problem, in relation to the 100s of thousands sold but I think everyone should be happy with a new bike and all problems resolved, that's just good business. It looks like the answer is going to be, live with the noise, buy a kit and try to beat up your dealer for help with it, or sell or trade your bike. I was hoping for a little bit bettter ending for you guys but this is better than nothing at all.
more disturbing was the fact that other supporting posts were from members that had little or no posts elsewhere..most of which have disappeared from the forum now...my impression is the same now as then....that one or more folks wanted to fuel the fire and have manipulated the posts with other new accounts to make it sound like everyone has an issue with their 07s...
I can't think of her name (or the other characters) right now. Remember that lady (gotta be real old now if still alive) that had the sock puppets (a lamb and something else)? Yeah, there were three characters playing parts but only one person.
It's not at all unbelievable that was/is going on here.
Pete, can you tell me how the installation went? Did you do it yourself or have it done? I'm curious because mine is being shipped today and I'll be installing it myself. I was hoping anyone out there who has installed this kit might have some helpful hints.....by the way for those of you planning on buying the kit, Zanotti's is selling them for 228.00 which includedbearing pressed and shipping..... www.zanottimotor.com
