I have an 08 Ultra classic that did not come with heated grips. After much research i purchased and installed a pair of Heat Demons heated grips with chrome switch. I have had them for 1 year now without any problems. I was a little nervous about the install with the throttle by wire, but there customer service was awesome and they talked me right through it. just my 2 cents
Knock on wood, mine still work but the right grip gets noticeably warmer then the left.
Better then nothing, but I'll never replace them at my cost. I'd much sooner get heated gloves.
After my 2nd set of OEM heated grips crapped out on me I installed a set of Heat Demons. They produce a lot of heat. The 4-led light indicator for heat level is very convenient at night and a nice improvement over the OEM in this respect.
The only downside to these is that you have to cycle through the higher levels to turn it down or off, and if you shut off the motor you need to switch the heated grips on again when you resume riding.
All in all very pleased with these and web research indicates that they are very reliable.
I have a 2011 FLHTK and the heated grips went out just after the warranty expired and I did not buy the extended warranty. In the typical poor quality Harley Customer Service style they refused to replace the grips even though they went out about a month after the warranty expired. I asked a Harley mechaninc if I bought new grips how long he thought they would last and he said he would not waste his money on factory grips. He said he installed Heat Deamons on his and he loves them. He said they are built to last and they are wired differently than the Harley grips so they will probably last much longer.
Has anyone installed the Heat Deamons and how do you like them?

I had the HD Heated Grips installed on my 09 Ultra Classic, and never had an issue. On my 13 Unltra Limited, the one connector was routed improperly and came loose, havent had an issue since.
