Just replaced stator and regulator 120 days ago and last week lost volts. Tested the stator and found the stator not putting out anything. Today called Harley and they said 90 days is all they will stand behind thier stators. I done all the tests when I put the new stator in and everything tests ok. My question, is this normal and am I going to have to replace the stator every 120 days?
Not normal but probably not unheard of. Are you sure your battery is good? Ive heard of guys knocking out their whole charging system just trying to get every last little bit of life out of their battery.

Battery checked ok at that time not sure bout now. Waiting on battery to charge on the charger now. Drained the battery pretty low before I noticed it wasnt charging.
Oh, I just remembered, an easy way to tell if it's the stator or not is to pull the primary chain inspection cover, the smell of the burnt stator will give it away.
I have been running just a type F tranny fluid but am going to change to something different. I suspect that may be part of the problem. Fixin to tear into it and check the magnets. They were in perfect condition 120 days ago. The primary definetly smelled burnt when I took the derby cover off. Battery checks fine with 12.58 volts charged and never drops below 10.7 when applying a load for 15 seconds and soon as the load is removed it comes back up to 12.4 volts.
