Yesterday was not a good day. Went out to ride (almost 70 degrees) and noticed the bike was sitting a lot lower. Pumped the new shocks up again and got the leak check out. Shocks were leaking where the steel body is stamped together. Spent the afternoon removing the shocks instead of riding. I bought the shocks off of Amazon. Good thing Amazon is good to work with, they have already sent out a new set. Hopefully the replacements will be ok.

Man...

Where exactly is it split? I haven't installed mine yet, but noticed that if I pull up on the eyelet by hand, I can see the damping rod. I think mine are broken too.

Should you be able to pull up on the eyelet and see the damping rod? I wouldn't think so.

Yes, you should be able to. There is nothing inside the shocks. They only rely on air.

I thought it needed to be sealed or welded to the body.

Yes, as ChoptXLC states, you will see this rod until you put air on the shocks. If you look at the outside of the shocks where they put the outer pieces together and spot welded, this seam is where mine was leaking. After you install and put air on them spray a little Windex on the seam and fittings. This will let you know if it is leaking. Good luck, but man this still sux after I went to all that trouble installing the new bushings and running the lines.

Ya, that is exactly what I was thinking. I mean, having a leak sucks. Now you have to go through playing with the bushings again though. Are you running longer bolts? I noticed today that I am going to need to run a longer lower bolt at the very least. How big did you go? Stock are 2''
