I've got a '10 with ABS; I mounted my compressor and dump valve on top of the radio behind the fairing. I used automotive grade 3M molding tape, which absorbs all the vibrations it makes.

Here's a pic of the compressor mounted. The dump valve (not pictured) is mounted also on top of the radio in the empty area.

PS: I too would like to take apart a set of shocks to see how to limit its length... I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Default Question

Have been looking into the Shotgun shocks for my 2010 FLHX wouldn't this system be much better? I know it is alot less money but won't you get petter performance and more reliablitiy also. Would still like a complete list of what is needed to do the cheaper system but still on fence about the shotgun system.

Never ridden a shotgun system but probably the only advantage might be that the rebound is adjustable. Some systems are some arent. I am totally satisfied with mine and it definitely better than stock and the cool factor is worth the 200 bucks. If your doin this mod solely lookin for a better ride, its prob not the right move, nor would any air ride system be. The monroes are designed for 30-40k miles on a car so I doubt you are gonna wear them out on a bike. Mine have a lifetime warranty, free replacement. The Viair compressor is the same as the $1000 system so the only benefit would be gettin to tell everyone you have $1000 shocks!

Took off Arnott shocks to try this, Will say ride is a little better when solo will try 2 up this weekend . as for hitting mufflers I will try some sort of limit switch to stop shocks at 13.5''. Still reading more positive than negative on this setup so Ill keep playing with it.

Gotcha! I have seen several guys ask that same question though and it seems that they are hilling while riding.
You could move your pipe over a tad and it would miss
