Just got the tourpak and rack for sturgis this year and brought the same amount of stuff I have years past. It is a much cleaner looking setup imho and I can lock everything except for the rack bag. First trip to sturgis I rode a vrod with a hockey bag on the back, it got everything there and back but didn't look very good. The tourpak was spendy by the time you get the mount, rack, keyed lock, locking quick tach, but it was well worth it to me.
Yes James k the suitcase comes with a rain cover. Mine fits good and is easy to install. I have not had to use it yet so i can't tell you how it works but i would bet it works fine. It folds up really small and doesn't take up any room at all.
Florida FLXH i have not had any paint damage so far but i do take the bra off as soon as we get back home. It has about 1500 miles on it. If you buy this just make sure when you install the bra that it's on a warm day or warm up the bra so it's easier to stretch over the lid. I am going to look for another tourpack lid and permantly attach the bra to it and then all i have to do is switch out the lids and were ready to go. I don't care what color the second lid is because it will be covered all the time. The only other thing i would suggest is going with the upgraded tourpack hinges as with the suitcase packed and attached it does add weight and i think the upgraded hinges would be better to support the extra weight with the lid opened.
...and like any other vehicle the closer to center and the lower- the better.
I posted earlier in this thread, I weigh my saddlebags to ensure even loading. a couple of pounds difference can result in an all-day counter steer and a sore neck or back.
