Wow- I had no idea I would light off such a fire. Its good to know the hobby of building a custom bike is alive and well. I guess I offended quite a few people, and for that I am truly sorry. I do want to say thanks to everyone that chimed in and said to build it the way I want to build it- I really appreciate it.

HotRoc54- what you have built is exacly what I am after- very nice job.

As far as screwing up a perfectly good CVO- here are my reasons

1. It already is a 103
2. It already has a ton of chrome that I won't have to buy(switchgear, floorboards, etc.)
3. It was affordable.

I hear everyone's argument about values, exclusivity, etc. and I don't take much stock in it as every event I have been to(Sturgis, Street Vibrations) I see CVO's on every corner. Its actually become a joke with one of my best friends and I because he owns the exact same bike(03 SERK) and at every event we see 6 or 7 of just this model. It got so bad back in 07 he finally let me talk him into painting it just so it would be different- so this is not the first time I have screwed up a perfectly good CVOHere is a picture of his bike we did in 07-

Don't pay no attention to those that prefer to buy instead of build.

I am in the process now of doing something, I did it 4 years and now decided it was time for a change. It is a lot of fun, but most of all I have it my way
not like someone else wants it.

Nice starting point. Here's a CVO Road King I was looking at last year. Would have bought it, but the dealer was only going to give me 7K for my 05 FLHPI. Thought I could get more and I did. It's still for sale.

Default Love wrenching...

Nothing like doing the wrenching yourself! Looks like you have a nice shop and some skills, good luck.
When I bought mine (2002 RK) she was red, wanted a change so I took off the tins and painted, upgraded the exhaust (V&H Ovals) and cams (S&S 510 gear).

Now the only part I actually wrenched on was the tins/exhaust off/on. But if I had the tools and the skills I would have done the rest too!!!

Thanks- it turned out really good in my opinion. My friend was really concerned about the original graphics so what we did is shoot over everything with PPG colored clear(sunset red if I remember) I will get some better shots of it in April when I visit him for Laughlin as that bike lives in Arizona now fulltime. By the way- I really like the paint on your 'Glide, red and black w/flames- how can you beat it.
