Don't know why I'm chiming in here, but personally I applaud what you are doing because I think the RK Custom was one of the ugliest bikes that Harley ever produced. Looks like a Fat Boy on steroids with saddlebags, complete with the ugly wheels and no passing lamps. Even though I do see the others' points about taking a CVO King and turning it into a Street Glide. Why not just make it a better looking Road King? Bottom line is it's your money and your motorcycle. Have it your way.

There are still quite a few of us who work on our own bikes, ourselves, with our own hands in our crappy little garages. And then ride over to a friends house to give him a hand with his bike in his crappy garage. That's the way we used to do it, and that's the way a lot of us still do.

I have taken a few stock bikes and made them a one off, sort of "custom" creation myself. It's just simply what I and many others enjoy doing. I for one have never looked at resale value when making my ride a one off and not because I'm rich by any means. I just have always looked at my toys as a "FUN" investment.
I personaly would not have used an original CVO bike to customize, but once again to each their own. I'm sure you have your reasons.
Now with that being said good luck with your project and keep us updated with pics.

A lot of people on here like the shoot down ANY idea and blast away at anyone's project. Screw 'em. Build it how you want and call it what you want. You are the one putting forth the effort, not some keyboard commando. Good luck with your project and I look forward to following your progress. I might even learn a thing or two that I can apply to mine as you go along.

I'm wishin I has a nice shop set up like that to work on my bike. One of the things that attracted me to HD in the first place is the amount of things you can do and parts you can buy to make it completely your own, the possibilities are endless. Good luck with your build and def keep the pics coming...
