I just treat the fob like a key and take it with me whenever I'm using the bike, otherwise it's in the house with the other keys.

I bought my scoot used with no owners manual. Any suggestions how I would obtain my PIN?

Keep it with the key (on you) and lock the bike whenever getting off of it! Anything less defeats the purpose of having it!!

I keep my FOB in a zipped pocket inside my jacket. Jacket never stays with the bike unless I'm riding. I also bought the kuryakyn push button release for the fuel tank that way I never have to worry about taking the fob and key out of my jacket to unlock the tank. Only started doing this after I nearly lost the fob one day. Works well for me

You need to have the FOB on your person to get the security code. According to book, follow these instructions:

Turn ignition switch on/off/on/off/on
Press left turn signal switch 3 times
Press right turn signal once and release

The turn signals will flash 3 times, and the pin will appear in odometer, with the 1st digit flashing. Write down the 5 numbers so you know what they are.

I treat my bike keys like my car keys. When I'm on the bike I have my keys. When I'm home, they're on the wall. Can't start either without the keys. Where's the problem?
Just make sure the FOB is far enough away from the bike that you can't start it.

If that's what you're use to, then leave it in the saddlebag. I like my security system.

I leave a key in the saddlebag and carry the fob. That way if I'm out, I have a key to lock stuff up, but it ain't a pain in my pocket. I keep the fob on a carabiner,
