obsolete SERT?
Sorry Brother, I was told the same thing and bought the "new cables". Same exact cable; if I had been smart I would have checked the part number before I ordered them. I am told there is a serial port version but both of mine are USB.
Mine are serial port version. I thought all the original SERT were.
The serial port version (at least for the cable going to the computer) must be "the old ones". A lot of new computers don't have serial ports any more. The cable from the ECM to the SERT has a serial end to it.
good evening... going to visit the dealer tomorrow...
so, to be clear, my original 2007 version SERT is NOT obsolete as claimed?
yes, or no?
what can I do with this latest version to tune it myself? Smart tune? what do I need to purchase, if anything, to do this?
I appreciate everyone's patience with my question's..
if they won't make it right with final adjustments, i'm taking it to a dealer that will do it right, and i'll probably buy a new bike from that dealer as well... I don't take to be jerked very kindly..
oh, and about that buzzing feeling?? any idea's?
thanx
that's a fact...

If your dealer don't wanna tune serts, you can't make him and you are better off not trying to.
Better off going to a guy who likes to tune with sert. He'll do a better job.
I would put that "buzz" on the back burner until you nail a good tune.
I wouldn't call it obsolete even though the newer versions have features that allow to partially tune without a dyno. You can go to the TTS website and download the SERT upgrade and see if your SERT can be upgraded to the TTS for $100. This will allow you to self tune. If you don't want to do that put the $100 towards some one that can tune with the SERT. You could always head north from the deep south of Florida to Clermont and see Doc. http://www.docsperformancetuning.com/index.html
I had to buy the SEPST, or they wouldn't tune the bike, so now I have both..
Doc won't tune SERT or SEPST, only a TTS, and although Doc is very good, I don't want or need to buy another box...
Ed, my idea was to get the bike tuned back to the way it was, then address the buzz, so we are thinking in line here, that hasn't happened yet, I got handed an $800 detour and it's still lean at idle, and pull-off, and cruise, I just dug out my SERT dyno sheet and it looks locked at 13.8-14.0 across the board... roll on is awesome though, but who the hell runs their bike at 60-100% all the damm time

No it's not obsolete. I tune the older SERT's all the time, did one from '94 just today.

Yes you can Smart tune as long as your bike has o2 sensors, your '07 does so you can.

I wouldn't go back to the original dealer, except to bitch. The bad thing is that your original SERT and your new SEPST are both "married" to your bike now. So your original one is worth nothing more than trash filler at this point.
