Send me an e-mail @ wingsaseagles_101@***.net and I will tell you how to do it !!!
The Dealer said you CANT do it without the kit ....but I did and just finished today all the parts "ARE" available at the dealer the parts guys dont know what to look for.......My module was purchased on ebay from a dismantler !!!!,switch housing was a used take off from someone who installed chrome housings on his FLHTCU, cruise set/resume switch is HD part# 77101-98 button is part # 71825-96A, control module part # 70955-04, rocker switch is part #71513-98 (just about any year switch will work I found a different part # on e-bay for $12 bucks and it works fine Print the instruction sheet available on Google for a 77196-07 kit, there are other misc. parts you will need like the E clip to hold the stepper cable part # 11193, and some zip ties, eyou will also need a service manual with wiring diagrams (a parts manual hel;ps a lot too...it is not plug and play it requires a little work.
Your bike already has all the wiring in the Harness, as well as the sensor in the decel cable, so its a matter adding the correct switches and, matching up wires that are all color coded, you may have to install a clutch switch if so it is part # 71584-96A
The Service manual has a mistake in the wiring diagram they called out a red/blue wire and it is actually a red/yellow wire for the brake light switch
Props to you for your ingenuity in piecing together what you needed. Basically, you replicated the parts that are included in the HD kit, but using other sources to gather them--WELL DONE!!! And for a heck of a lot less that retail!!!
Don't know why they discontinued it, but I took my 2007 FLHX to a shop here in Fort Walton and they were able to piece-meal the kit together and get it installed. I do believe the used a 2006 kit and then ordered other parts to adapt it to the 2007. Pretty good techs and I'm really glad I added that upgrade.
Thanks for the Kudos- I am a retired (From a dealership) MMA/HD-PHD Mechanic it was just a matter of looking through parts books and the MOCO guys seem to be too busy to help...........funny thing is the Lead parts guy asked me for my parts list and instructions GO FIGURE !!!
I see you ride with CMA, I ride with Bikers For Christ Tucson Chapter
We are working with our local HD dealer to supply kits, made up from parts, to replace most of the obsolete kits such as 77196-04, 77196-07, 77182-02, and 77197-07. If our local dealer does not want to make up these kits, Cruisemount will. The costs will be the total of the parts, and looks like about $610. These new kits will contain all the parts that were in the obsolete kits. We will post info on www.cruisemount.com when available.
