Neil, thanks for the pictures and write-up; nice job adapting HD parts for an application HD never addressed for '97-'08 EG Ultras.

To this day, HD doesn't include the FLHTCU '97-'08 models for their tour pak detachable racks; go figure.

I am considering this as my next project. I just have one additional question to those who have the removable TP. Will the removable Harley back rest pop right on after the tour pack is removed? any additional fabrication or parts needed?

You will need to get the detachable mounting points for the backrest. Just install it when you install the other points.
