I have a 2009 ultra classic ,I recently made my first mp3 cd for the bike, only some songs seem to work and i find it scanning the way through the numbers only to play certain songs.
I dont have it on random and the cd does play in all other systems..Im curious if theres something else I need to do to the mp3 cd to get it to work.theres about 120 songs on the cd itself.
sounds like the mp3 did not burn correctly, what did you use as a source, real store bought CDs converted by you or mp3s from someone else. It could be the file itself is bad. Try it again and burn it at a slow speed and always use 320 kbps to get the best quality.
This has happened to me as well but when I looked at the files on the CD there were some MP4 files and other file extensions (album art, etc) which will not play on the HD system.
I get the best results by using Itunes to convert tunes to MP3 files.
It may not help but, it's worth trying to update the sofware of the radio/cd player.
Go to HD website, burn update on cd, insert into radio/cd player and follow instructions on website.
Hope this works.
I have had this problem myself on my '07 ultra updated the software and chnaged to the "black" cd's. Either on or the other of these changes sorted the problem.
Hope this helps.
There is a big thread about this here someplace if you look around you will find it, but all of it wrapped up was basicly, and don't quote me, but if there is ANY video attached, you will have a hard time listening to it. Again I know nothing about this stuff, but had some like you and the guy at work that makes them for me took the video parts out and it was smooth sailing from there on. Good luck.Kris
You are correct Kris. This is what V2Evo is talking about. MP4 is basically a box in which a number of different media files are/can be stored. It can be music, video, photo's, album art and many other media types. As far as I'm aware the HD Advanced set cannot play anything but MP3 (MPEG 2.5 level lll) so if signature on the file says "MP4" the unit will start to panic.
You would be better off buying an MP3 player to plug into the HU. You don't have to carry around cd's that way. I haven't played a cd in my '09 Ultra Classic since I've had it. My zune 120 will hold up to 30,000 songs but I keep around 500 in it.
Second Shortrides suggestion. 16g iPod Nano holds over 3,000 songs. There are some sweet holders on the market (riders claw) and you'll never play a CD again.
