Thinking out loud (stage 1)
Rev limits and advance timing is unchanged.
not a huge AFR change, but as you probably know, too rich a mixture can result in lost power and mechanical problems over time.

- EPA complaint for sound and emissions.
- Moderate increase in hp and torque
- Maintain or improve fuel economy.
- Keep the cost as low as possible.
Here are my conclusions (please correct me where I am wrong)...
As much as I would like to put a SE255 cam in my bike the cost is just not justifiable. The parts themselves are not too bad, but there is a lot of labor and it requires re-mapping your ECU. I think if I want that much of an improvement, I should just trade up to a CVO.
Dyno charts can be deceiving. I have seen dyno charts vary as much as 10 hp/torque for a stock 96". So, at this point, I am not real worried about what the actual hp or torque I end up with. All I am really looking for is improvement.
I've done a lot of shopping around and read a lot of anecdotal evidence as well as reviews and supporting dyno charts and there might be better slip-ons out there, but none of them can compete with the Jackpot Dyno Tuned slip-ons in terms of price performance. Not the best looking or the best sounding (very subjective), but for me... form follows function.
I will probably put the SE A/C (back plate and filter) on. I actually like the HD football and I am not a fan of exposed filters, which is what nearly every other option is. Probably not the best choice in terms of performance or even price, but I think it will be good enough. I've read a lot about paper versus oiled filters and the only conclusion I can come to is that the evidence is not very compelling in any way. I like the convenience of a paper filter, so... that is how I will roll.
I will not do a dyno tune, ECU re-map, or add a piggy-back system to alter my ECU functionality in anyway. The stock setup is designed to handle variations in the environment. My understanding is that the HD SE re-map does nothing to alter the AFR or the timing, though I may go ahead and pay to have it done, just to satisfy any warranty or support issues. Will the bike run leaner than it does now? Maybe. What i will do is just check my plugs to see what happens. If it looks like it is running too lean, I will put the XIED's on. Will it be "dialed in"? Nope, but it will be good enough.
My first step will be to add the slip-ons. In fact, I am ready to order them right now (they are on sale even) and all I need to decide on is slash-ups or slash-downs. I can install them myself and according to advertisements... I should see an immediate improvement. Freer flowing pipes without a freer flowing intake has conflicting theories however. So, I am very curious to see what actually happens.
