Very confused with the amps thing. I have biketronics Titan/ hertz 6.5" speakers. They say they are rated at three ohms.
I am looking at the two channel Titan amp or the hawgwired dsc 1202 and want to make sure it is all compatible.
The amps say 4ohm speakers.
Was also looking at the arc min bx so out of the three are they all a good match for these speakers?
Phat performance parts said that using a 3ohm speaker with 4ohm amp is not the most ideal. They said no to hawg wired and that I should go with j&m or Titan amp as they can hold a two amp. Not sure what any of this means...
Sorry can't offer much help but just installed the ARC mini bx and super clean install, plenty of punch for a pair of 6.5" speakers fwiw. Hope you get it sorted out quickly..

I was considering the Hawg Wired amp for use with my Hogtunes speakers and Tweeter Pods, and decided against it because of the firm 4Ω spec on their 2-ch. amps. My HT's are 2Ω and the TP's 6Ω, and there is no way to create 4Ω from this setup. In its present configuration I'm running 1.5Ω (speakers in parallel) and HW recommended that I also change speakers. I'm not getting rid of the TP's but would consider an upgrade of the fairing speakers.
I can't imagine these amps couldn't run safely at 3Ω, but I would check with HW first and make sure they'll support them in that environment. I just bought an Elf amp on Ebay (refurb) for $135 and it works fine and fits well on top the head unit. It produces 75W @ 4Ω and 125W at 2Ω. Actually, I'm considering the Hertz speakers like you have, as the HT 5ź" aren't quite cutting it. So what is your opinion of them?
You might look into the Arc or Elf, as a number of riders have bought these, used them successfully, and I've heard no negative reports on them. They have ample power for most needs and can handle different speaker impedances. There are several recent threads on stereo upgrades here, one of which I started only last week.
I've got a similar question to the OP's. I'm currently running the J&M 250W amp with 7.25" speakers, but I'm considering switching over to the Hertz 6.25". Will the J&M amp work with those speakers, or is the impedance all wrong?
