My 07 UC shipped monday (Nov 20). Due in next week. Dealer says he knows nothing of hot motors, noise trannys, and any other 07 issue. So my guess is that HE is lying to me. Not really getting a very good deal on my 05 UC, and not such a great deal on the new one..soooo, I think I have decided to opt out of the deal. Maybe after I ride a rental 07 UC and see for my self, and try to work a better deal on my 05...then I might reconsider....BTW...dynoed the 05 in June and it is running incredible, and to just hand it to the dealer at such a low price, and with all the problems with SOME of the 07 really grinds on me.
Sounds like you have a great option there if you don't want a newer bike yet. Enjoy the ride, Bro, whichever one it is!
FWIW, mine started out great, and now that she's looser and on syn she's better yet.
Cheers!

A friend of mine recently bought an '07 SE Ultra. It developed the heating and cylinder shut-off issues right off the bat! Dealer said No Problem Found. So, after a few rounds with the dealer, he said screw it and bought an '05 SE Ultra off e-bay and dumped the '07 back at the dealer. He has engaged an attorney to sue HD over the drivability issues with his 07. The dealer hands are tied because any change they make to the FI could bring a heavy fine from the EPA. BTW, he is very happy with his '05. I'm not going to say they all have this problem, but it does seem to be more prevalent in the warmer climes. I'd say keep your 05!

That is the exact same thing my dealer has been saying all along. He also told me my 07 was the only one he had seen with issues. Well on the ride in with the porter who picks up broke down bikes for the dealer tells a different story. He said he had seen a lot of 07's in the shop for warranty work not just for service like the dealer has been telling me. That is another thing I have to be thankful for this year that I was able to get rid of my 07 Ultra. I like the 06 a lot better.
Very pleased with my '06 UC. Only have 6K on it but it's running great. Seems to run better after the 5K checkup and the dealer say that it really will run better after I get 10K on the clock. Glad I stayed with the '06 although many seem to be having no problem with the '07s.
I guess I have been lucky. My 07 UC is SWEET. The only thing I have done to it is I put a Power Commander on it as soon as I got it with stock map. I have No Trans noise, No heat problem. The ride is sweet and I love 2200 rpm at 70mph. I know some have had problems but I haven't. Look at all the other forums. All 07 big twins have the same engine and trans. Read their posts. Take a test ride on an 07 and make up your mind. I think if I had an 05 UC as you do, I wouldn't trade just to trade. I went from an 05 Heritage to my Ultra. I couldn't be happier.
I sort of went down that twisted path when the 07's came out. I had to decide if I wanted a 07 or keep my 06 and do a BB build on it. I road a 07 Ultra found it was hotter than my 06 and the 5th gear rattle was there. I went with the BB build on my 06 and even now feel that was the way to go.
