Default Best Performing Exhaust/Headpipe?

I'm after the best performing exhaust and headpipe or true dual set up! I don't care what the looks are i just want the most bang for my buck. 2-1 is an option as well. I have a 2011 fltrx so wanting to get rid of the Cat! Already have a PC-V, big sucker and about to do engine work. Help!

The most bang for your buck would be a used set-up. Look in the classified section. Or shoot me a PM. I have a Jackpot 2-1 headpipe and H-D Nightstick that I haven't listed yet. They came off of my 2010 RGC that I traded in.

I'd say either V&H Power Duals w/ HO Slip-ons or D&D Fatcat. From what I've seen those seem to be comparible in performace to each other but great results. My indy swears by both of those.

Personally, I am a big fan of the SuperTrapp exhausts. The "tuneable" claim is completely accurate.
Have the Nightstick (slip-on) on My 2010 Glide (came with 2:1 from the moco) & a 2:1 on my 2003 Fat Boy.
Without question, your least expensive solution will be slip-ons.

bang for buck?

have the cat removed from your header pipe
the H-D design header pipe will support power gains above what most of us will ever do to our bikes, and the crossover ( cylinders connected) enhances torque).

look for a used slip on muffler

I would suggest a supertrapp supermeg or it's screaming eagle variants the nightstick and fatshot.

these are tunable mufflers which allow you to tune the pipe to the motor and should the motor change, retune the pipe. ( discs are added or subtracted to the stack, and -within a range for that motor -can emphasis horsepower or torque)

the supermegs on my 09 were on my '95 for 10 years and over that time as the motor was built, tuned to match. then swapped to the 96" and retuned, then retuned again to match my intake mods.

that's bang for buck---- 12 years, 2 bikes and 5 motor combinations.

Mike

You are going to see a bunch of Fat Cat love, and rightfully so.... they do VERY well on a Dyno.

+2 on the SuperTrapp SuperMegs 2-into-1. Tuneable, open or closed end caps that allow sound from LOUD to very, very quiet, great finish and plating, standup company and top of the line hp/torque output.

Performance being your primary concern, you think the same way I do. Bang for buck, get a take off 2010 OEM 2:1system. I have run the FM 2:1 headpipe and the OEM 2:1 with cat in tact both with OEM muffler, not much difference between the two, both systems run strong once tuned properly. If you're looking for absolute performance you'll need to do some math to factor headpipe length and diameter for the displacement, cam you plan to run, and riding style, then find something available that's close to your requirement or build custom. Funny nobody advertises their primary tube length, but its one of the most important values when selecting an exhaust. About any aftermarket system will be way better than stock, but none will be the "best" for your bike.

Agree the best bang for your buck is to either remove the cat yourself (easy job for a bacic welder) or do an exchange with Americam Customs for a catless head pipe $199.00 and then add slip ons. Most of the slip ons will show you very close to the same power , the biggest difference is the headpipe change either from 2-1, 2-1-2 to a 2-2 true duals . With a true dual 2-2 you will lose a little power over a 2-1-2 or a 2-1 . I like the "tuneable mufflers like the Super Trap or HD night stick as well, I just dont like the sound as much as a more traditional muffler. Any or the Rinharts, V & H slip on will do pretty well. Per V & H customer service the best Tq producing slip on they make are the Ovals or any of the basic or rounds with the QB installed. The High Output mufflers are not reccommended by them for engines less than 110 ci or less than Stage 2 since they are a little to free flowing to give the back pressure needed for a stock type engine.

agreed on the supermeg.

you will lose the unwanted weight from the left side of the exhaust saving about 10lbs and the tunability of the discs. Hopefully sound is not an issue with you either.
